Grand Designs, Belfast, Northern Ireland
The initial concept of “The Hill House” was derived from the protracted dialogue of planning service and client and primary concerns in early 2004 that the site was undevelopable principally in terms of topography. This formed the source of much design deliberation and reinterpretation of brief on both a client and planning level and through this interactive process the scheme evolved to the embedded three level, open plan modernist pavilion that became Grand Designs first Belfast and Northern Ireland episode.
